“2025 Update:Guelph Family Martial Arts (GFMA) is proud to serve the community with a friendly, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where students of all ages can learn, grow, and thrive. Classes are open to students as young as 3 years old and extend all the way to those over 70, showing that martial arts truly is for everyone with every level of physical fitness. At GFMA, martial arts is more than physical training, it is a vehicle for personal development. Their students learn focus, discipline, respect, perseverance, and leadership skills that extend into their daily lives at school, work, and home. They offer structured programs in martial arts, sparring, and competition training, as well as community events that connect families and create lasting friendships. Their motto is simple, "every student can achieve their personal best with the right guidance and support". The studio is led by Sensei Nathan Skoufis, a 6th-degree black belt, multi-discipline martial artist, and one of Canada’s most decorated competitors. Nathan is a 27-time World Champion, having won titles across major global circuits. He represented Team Canada at the World Taekwondo Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, bringing home gold for his country. His achievements highlight not only his talent and dedication but also his ability to inspire the next generation of martial artists. He is a recipient of numerous community and leadership awards. He also serves as a motivational speaker for schools and organizations. Skoufis is also a WAKO Accredited Coach, selected as a coach for the Winter Games, recognized by the International Olympic Committee, the Canadian Government, and the Ministry of Sport. His leadership has been featured on CTV News, CBC News, Global News, Rogers TV, and in both local and national publications. With an emphasis on excellence, community, and inclusivity, they empower students of all ages to dream big, set goals, and achieve success both on and off the mats.”
