Our recent home project was evaluated by Andrew Kortas, the sales manager. He took the time to come to Nanaimo from Victoria, did a two hour evaluation, and then drive back to Victoria. Andrew's poise and profound knowledge of home renovations made the whole experience of our first major renovation a pleasure. He even managed to make the suggestion of a port-a-potty in our backyard sound kind of fun. Andrew is a true reflection of the kind of quality work one would expect of Lida Homes. We originally hired Horizon Pacific Contracting to add on to an existing house on our lot. During the initial meeting we quickly realized that to get the custom home we wanted we needed to build a new house and Horizon was the best company for the job. We had bought a very unique property on the waterfront and it required an experienced Team to achieve our vision, budget and time-line. Horizon introduced us to a local Architect who quickly got to work establishing the building limits to allow Horizon to start work on site while the design progressed. We wanted our new house to minimize impacts on the neighbours while maximizing our own requirements. Horizon worked closely with all stake-holders to create the best result possible. When we were developing the design and starting construction we were not living full-time in Victoria. Regardless, Horizon made it easy to work seamlessly through the process. They were able to quickly address constructability issues while ensuring we were still getting the house we wanted. Small adjustments such as changing the size of the upper deck to accommodate skylights over an otherwise dark hallway made a huge difference to our home, as did their expertise in designing and building our stunning foyer staircase. It was clear from the outset that Horizon was committed to ensuring we got the home we wanted. We knew we could always reach someone at the company if we had questions or needed something addressed. The Horizon staff were very easy to work with and were responsive, quick to get back to us and always ready.

Horizon did a very successful renovation on our dated, 90’s-style home. From our first meeting with Tim to our final follow-up, our renovation was as easy as it could possibly have been. We are quite experienced with building and renovations, but we have never had this smooth and enjoyable of a reno. We have a fantastic new kitchen (for which a wall came out), a new living room fireplace wall, new powder room, new office, new front hall, handrails, and all new flooring. We feel like we’re living in a new house! All of this was completed within the time frame we were told, and we were really close to being on budget, as well, so we are very happy. Our site supervisor Dave was very friendly and excellent to work with and responded immediately to every query. Our first couple of meetings with Tim were really useful, in that he was able to look at our house with fresh-but-experienced eyes, so he got us thinking about things differently than our designer was talking about. It is really because of Tim we ended up with such successful design work here. I should add, Horizon seems to be careful to use tradespeople for each portion of the job who are skilled in that particular area.

We've had the privilege of working with Horizon Pacific Contracting on numerous projects and can say, with the utmost confidence, that Tim Agar and his team are committed from the beginning of each project to ensure their clients are completely satisfied with their home and are continuously apprising them of the construction costs at every phase throughout the process.
