Such a fantastic sewing store! From their great selection of fabric and notions, the range of classes they offer (I was sceptical that I could learn to sew, but they taught me to love it!) and the incredibly helpful staff, I highly recommend Spool of Thread. My husband and I took a sewing class together as a date (we made pillows) and it was really fun! I also got my first seeing machine from them.

If you ever broke a zipper somehow, this place has a bunch to choose from. My zipper slider broke off my pair of pants and I wanted to replace it myself. They had a lot of different colours and sizes that were super affordable. If you need just the slider they're easy to uninstall from the zippers. Staff was friendly as well!

Fantastic assortment of fabric patterns- great sewing machines and nice atmosphere. I take sewing classes there which I’ve enjoyed very much. Highly recommend.

I recently had my partners surger machine serviced by Ivy and I am so pleased with the results. Ivy got it done in less than a week, and did am amazing job cleaning it up. She also took the time to give me some tips and tricks regarding tension and fabric types, and shared some of her experiences as a seamstress. Ivy is a skilled woman with absolute dedication to her craft. Thank you Ivy!

I am really glad that I had my sewing machine serviced at M & I. They are the best! They are low-key but knowledgeable, honest and work with integrity. M & I is not open full day. They are not in it for the money. I would call before I make my way there.

Ivy is delightful and will fix my 40 year old Kenmore sewing machine that has been such a workhorse I couldn't bear to part with it.

I took the intro to sewing class with Amarantha. Everything about my experience was lovely, from the classroom environment to the equipment and materials provided, as well as her teaching style. The results I was able to produce after a mere 3 hr class exceeded my expectations! I will definitely be back for more.

Amaranta was wonderful as our workshop instructor and I enjoyed every minute of the experience! La Movida is a very well-organized studio space, plus the workshop pacing, content and instruction were seamless and professional. My friend and I both had a lot of fun.

Amazing experience with my intro to sew workshop! La Movida is very professional and helpful when life circumstances come up. We made tote bags and the sewing machines there were so top notch. Loved it.
