“Sarah McLachlan School of Music has been serving the community for over 22 years. The school offers an early childhood music and movement experience for children aged six months to 5 years alongside adults who support them. They provide a full spectrum of music programming and learning resources. Adults over 55 can learn to strum, pick, read music, and explore basic theory while participating in choir sessions. Sarah McLachlan School of Music offers online and on-site music programs, including summer and spring camps and workshops. Classes are available for all levels, from absolute beginners to novices and intermediates. The summer camp at SoM is designed to introduce new students to the program, which will start in September. Sarah McLachlan School of Music has locations in Vancouver, New West, and Edmonton.

2025 Update: Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Vancouver has a vibrant 16,000-square-foot space that serves as a creative hub for over 880 students each year. Hard to know where to start... Have had the absolute privilege of working with SOM and my classes for over a decade now. This school provides world class musician instructors, top notch instruments and a style of instruction that allows students to feel safe and supported as they tackle a new challenge/opportunity. For students facing multiple barriers to success already, the chance to undertake music lessons in such an amazing setting is indeed a frequent life changing experience. Many students I have worked with have continued to pursue music for years after their first experiences at SOM. I am professionally and personally thankful for the great work this school does

I have been having piano lessons for a bit over a year with Alison and couldn't have been happier to have firstly decided to start this journey and also to have fortunately found Horizon and Alison to guide me. The Horizon team are very friendly and helpful, and Alison is a great teacher who brings passion and a ridiculously in-depth knowledge of music, artists and genres to add color to what we are learning. I am so happy with how far I have progressed in this time and look forward to continuing. Thank you Alison and Horizon!

Andrew is the best! He is truly a wonderful piano instructor. He’s not only a gifted musician but he is an excellent teacher. He is encouraging, patient and motivating. I would highly recommend Andrew to anyone looking to take piano lessons at Horizon.

Danny with Horizon School of Music is a fantastic instructor. He keeps the lessons fun and relatable for the kids, he is very patient and makes sure the student is engaged and motivated to learn, while tailoring the lesson to the student's needs. VSO SCHOOL OF MUSIC REVIEWS

I am a student at the VSO School of Music. The staff, instruments, and facilities are all very nice. Elevator on each floor if you can't take the stairs. Offers masterclasses and festivals for students. Students can also use practic rooms for free and get discounts on select facilities such as Pyatt hall. Shout out to Alan Crane, my piano teacher.

Piano lesson there is amazing. I would like to emphasize how good teacher Estelle is. We are going here not so long, however our daughter love music and always enjoy time with teacher. Additionally teacher does performance recital every year and this is a great time to communicate with people and to listen others great children.

Our son is loving the Mini Maker classes - and so are we! We’re in our 3rd term and plan to continue as long as he shows interest. He loves the songs and we love that they have purpose. Fun and educational with their lifelong learning of music in mind even at this young age.
